Behind the Scenes – Somewhere Out There
Home / Behind the Scenes – Somewhere Out There
The arrival of Spring means longer days, warmer weather and the feeling that Summer is loading. It could be a time to plan your next adventure, hop on a plane, grab a little sunshine and get the summer wardrobe sorted out for what’s coming soon, or just a time to dust off the mower, get back in the garden and enjoy the longer evenings and warmer temperatures.
We hopped on a plane ourselves and were lucky enough to take our photo shoot crew to Colombia to put our Spring 2024 collection to the test.
We visited some incredible treehouses nestled right in the jungle, with such tricky roads to navigate, at one point the whole crew all jumped on the back of motorbike taxis and we were ferried through a river and up a hill to get to see the stunning views that one of these treehouses had to offer. A fun but foot soaking experience when you aren’t prepared for the shortcut through a riverbed.
One day we visited the town of Minca which is surrounded by jungle, waterfalls and wildlife, nestled in the centre are some fantastic places to eat and drink, plus some good shopping to be had. After shooting in a spectacular treehouse we hiked down to a well-known swimming spot, which despite being a little tricky to get to was well populated by the locals. It would have been rude to not go for a dip, in true Weird Fish fashion we never go anywhere without our swimmers.
We seemed to be greeted by wildlife wherever we roamed, with many stray dogs and cats around, we even encountered a donkey in one shoot location who was very keen on trying Weird Fish on for himself. Geckos could be heard chirping away happily throughout the evenings, and a resident grasshopper, made frequent visits to the wardrobe area in our house to make sure our styling was up to his standards.
Another day we got on our paddle boards and shot around an inlet from the sea which butts up right into the jungle, we were even joined by our local guide’s dog, who is an old hand at paddle boarding herself.
This spot on the river gives endless photo opportunities with the jungle river view on one side and the crystal clear beach and sea on the other. We were treated to some incredible sunsets and wound down the end of the shoot with a few obligatory margaritas.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Colombia and were met with such kind and helpful people. We put our clothes through the paces of a typical Weird Fish active holiday, and they did not disappoint.
Wherever your somewhere out there is this season, Weird Fish will have you covered.
