Behind the Scenes of ‘For Life’s Adventure’

In the words of our beloved communications manager, Naomi, Iceland is like being on another planet and as you can see from the photos on our shoot, it was a phenomenal experience.

Our team jetted off to Iceland, in September, to shoot and film our latest collection, For Life’s Adventure. Iceland is known as the land of fire and ice, as it is home to some of the most active volcanos in the world and the largest glaciers in Europe. It is a place bubbling with excitement, with an adventure to be had around every corner! From black sand beaches, countless waterfalls, geysers, crazy rock formations and ash-covered glaciers, we were fortunate enough to see it all.

Known for its black sand beaches, we visited Vik, the southernmost village in Iceland. A black sand beach was a wonder to see with our own eyes, but, amazingly, there were also hundreds of puffins huddled on the most amazing rock face. The soggy wet weather didn’t ruin these beautiful and memorable moments for us. Who knew it was so rainy in September?!

While on the shoot, we were treated to a traditional Icelandic lunch thanks to the self-penned Mr Iceland, who cares for hundreds of wild horses and horses that were previously trained to be ridden or pull vehicles. This was such a fun and unique experience. We were honoured to be made so welcome by Mr Iceland!

Our models also had a great time and were joined by two local Icelandic models for the day! We rented an amazing house with its own natural rock hot tub and fire pit; we toasted marshmallows and had a truly fantastic time. It wasn’t all relaxing in hot tubs and eating sticky sweet treats. To get some of the most incredible shots of the shoot, we trekked up to an outstanding glacier covered in black ash from the surrounding active volcanos, that isn’t something you get to do every day!

Our crew and models battled the elements repeatedly on this shoot, everywhere they went. From fog, rain, hurricane speed winds and even more rain, we could not have been happier with the results and experiences gained from our photoshoot in Iceland. Our Weird Fish clothes were certainly put to the test, and we are very happy to say they are made for life’s adventure!
